I believe that God and government are two things that mix very well. People these days use separation of church and state to keep God out of government. They also use it to keep God out of schools, gyms, the workplace, and anything else they can think of. This was not the intention of separation of church and state. Our fore-fathers wanted to keep the government from influencing religion. They did not want our politics to be entirely devoid of morality, inspiration, or God.
The policy has been sickly manipulated and twisted to suit the political agenda of those who call themselves Progressives. These Progressives are afraid of God inspiring those in government. They are afraid of this because of the moral responsibility that comes along with a belief in God. Obviously, they could no longer put forth legislation that would funnel tax-payers’ dollars towards abortions. They could no longer continue to indoctrinate children in schools into the belief that government is God. There are a lot of moral implications of a nation that believes in God. All of these implications work against the agenda of Progressives. That agenda is to establish “socialism” in order to move onto a dictatorship a la the U.S.S.R.
If our politicians took into consideration the foundation of our nation perhaps they would be less inclined towards backroom dealing and more inclined towards fulfilling the duties they swore they would. I think it is time that God be allowed back into the lives of American citizens. The government should not be allowed to dictate to us when and where we can pray. Perhaps members of said government would do well to try praying some more themselves.
